One of the hobbies that have a lot of benefits is sewing. You can have fun while you are creating clothes for your loved ones. You can even have this as your stepping stone to having a business of your own sooner or later. At the same time, you can stretch your muscles while doing your hobby. You can also enjoy the peacefulness of your room while you are sewing. This will allow you to relax. Indeed, this hobby is quite beneficial. It makes you healthy physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The hazards of sewing

While it is true that sewing has many advantages, it has several disadvantages too. You may develop Repetitive Stress Injuries and pain in the different areas of your body.

What is a Repetitive Stress Injury?

The most common form of this injury is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which affects your wrist as well as your hands. As go on, you may also have RSIs that impairs your back and neck including your elbows.

Take a break

When you are doing something and you are hooked to it, it is somewhat hard to stop especially if you have to complete a big project. But your body will surely thank you if you take a break once in a while as this will give your hands and your other body parts to rest. You can even stand up or leave your work table and walk around for a few minutes to exercise your legs and hands.

Maintain good posture

Usually, people who are sewing hunch over their machines while they are working. This poor posture will lead to back pain at the end of the day. So, once you notice yourself slouching or stooping over your work table, straighten your body right away to avoid posture problems.

Rest your eyes
